Questions
There is no such thing as a silly question! Some of the common ones are listed below, and anybody is welcome to get in touch if they would like to know more.
What is Forest Therapy?
Forest therapy, also known as forest bathing or shinrin-yoku, involves immersing oneself in a forest environment to promote mental and physical well-being. The practice originated in Japan in the 1980s as a response to the high-stress levels and increasing urbanization in society. It is now a recognized form of preventative health care and natural healing. The mindful practices can be adapted to any natural environment.
What are the benefits of Forest Therapy?
In a world that is increasingly dominated by technology and constant connectivity, taking the time to unplug and unwind in nature has never been more important. Spending time in nature has been shown to lower blood pressure, reduce cortisol levels, and boost immune function. Additionally, the peaceful surroundings of the forest can help calm the mind and improve cognitive function.
Is Forest Therapy Accessible?
Forest Therapy is very adaptable and it is important to me that my sessions are accessible to everybody. Please contact me if you have any specific accessibility needs to discuss a plan.
Will I have to talk to Strangers?
Forest Therapy is not a talking therapy. It is about you taking the time to enjoy nature in a way which has been shown to be therapeutic. There will be an opportunity to introduce yourself at the start of the session, and a chance to share your thoughts at the end, but it is entirely up to you whether you speak.
So how is this different to just going for a walk on my own?
A Certified Forest Therapy Practitioner is specifically trained in sharing evidence based methods to ensure the positive impact of nature lasts for as long as possible.

"I really enjoyed it! I think for me, it's hard to switch off from everything going on, but I started to relax and take in the smell of the leaves and soil, and the sound of the falling leaves."
